The Thomas More University of Applied Sciences is home to the Centre of Expertise: Sustainable Business and Digital Innovation. With around forty researchers and twenty projects, the centre focuses on six research lines, including innovative and sustainable tourism. Core areas include cultural tourism and issues of inclusiveness, integrating a variety of research methodologies spanning quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods. The central element of this methodology remains co-creation with tourism stakeholders and local communities, regarding visitor experiences. Outputs and deliverables of the applied research, such as pilots/prototypes, toolkits and guidelines, focus on useability and implementation within the field of tourism.
To this end, several projects have been carried out in recent years.
