Dialogue #3 – Costanza Fielbo

By April 22, 2025No Comments

Costanza Fidelbo has been working on issues related to cultural heritage protection and promotion since 2017. She started with the Italian Delegation to UNESCO, before moving on to the Emergency Preparedness and Response Unit of UNESCO’s Culture Sector. Since 2020, she acts as Associate Programme Specialist at the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Science and Culture in Europe, focusing primarily on the role of culture for local sustainable development and reconciliation.

Within the framework of UNESCO, her primary focus lies in the realm of sustainable cultural tourism and the crucial endeavour of combatting the illicit trafficking of cultural property. This commitment is exemplified by her role in the European SmartCulTour project, where she spearheaded the coordination of six cultural tourism living laboratories.

The Smart Cultural Tourism as a Driver of Sustainable Development for European Regions (SmartCulTour) project, part of the European Horizon 2020 programme, came to an end in 2023 after 4 years of implementation. Implemented by a consortium of more than 10 partners, the project aimed to develop a model of sustainable cultural tourism within European regions by transforming local cultural resources into drivers of sustainable development for communities and territories.
