For the past six years, the Jeonju International Awards for Promoting Intangible Cultural Heritage (JIAPICH) has served as a significant platform for the global ICH NGO community. Initiated by Jeonju City, this event has honored 15 finalists from across the world, representing all continents. We are excited to announce that three additional finalists will be recognized in the upcoming 6th edition of JIAPICH.
This year, the event stands out due to the collaboration between JIAPICH and the Jeonju International Forum for ICH & Tourism (JIFIT), an initiative led by the Jeonju Cultural Foundation. This partnership will bring together international experts in intangible cultural heritage to both celebrate JIAPICH and engage in meaningful discussions on sustainable tourism within the ICH sector.
Several members of our ICH NGO Forum community will actively participate as keynote speakers, presenters, jury members, and past finalists. The program will include a three-day cultural tour of Jeonju, focusing on the city’s rich intangible heritage. The week-long event will culminate in the JIAPICH ceremony and the JIFIT forum, which will start with the 2024 JIAPICH ceremony on September 25 at 11 am Korean Standard Time (GMT+9).
We invite you to join us via the YouTube live stream (search for “CICSinKorea” on YouTube) to participate in the two-day forum and awards ceremony.
