For the past 6 years, the Colombian organization, Embodying Reconciliation, recently accredited by UNESCO ICH, worked using arts and cultural heritage as tools for social change and peacebuilding in Colombia.
Last week one of the young black activist groups we work with was violently displaced by guerrilla forces “clearing” the region in order to cultivate coca. Children are targeted specifically to be forced into these paramilitary groups. They currently have fled their territory, and are without any of their traditional means of survival. The 28 families are being forced to choose between being homeless and without food or risking a return to their land and the threat of violence.
The we are seeking urgent assistance to provide them with housing and food for at least the next month.
