Community Heritage, Intellectual Property Protection and Sustainable Development in India – February 2 and 3

By January 26, 2021No Comments

Contact Base and Coventry University UK are organising two webinars on ICH, IP, Cultural Tourism and Sustainable Development as part of dissemination events for a British Academy funded project on “Celebrating Local Stewardship in a Global Market: Community Heritage, Intellectual Property Protection and Sustainable Development in India“.

The project involved the co-creation of HIPAMS (heritage-sensitive intellectual property and marketing strategies) with three communities promoting their traditional products and performances in West Bengal, India.

A toolkit has been developed as part of the HIPAMS project to address the lack of practical guidance on the relationship between ICH and the market, and how to think about heritage-sensitive commercialization, or commercialization that supports heritage safeguarding. This toolkit, about engaging communities in planning for sustainable development using intangible cultural heritage will also be discussed in a webinar on February 2 2021. The webinar on February 3 focuses on cultural industries, tourism and GI.

Both the webinars will be streamed live in HIPAMS facebook page.
