In 2017, the craft of the miller was the Kingdom of the Netherlands’ first inscription on the Representative List of the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. One of the aims of this inscription was and is to promote international cooperation and exchange. By organising this conference we aim to bring together mill and millerorganisations from all over the world to share knowledge and skills and develop an international network of millers and mill societies. We would like the NGOs accredited to this convention to spread the news to mills and miller organisations in their countries! Also these NGOs themselves are invited to attend this conference, because the craft of the miller is a fine example of safeguarding the crafts more in general, that may set an example to other crafs also. A specific workshop will be organised for countries and millers’ organisations who want to join the Dutch inscription on the Representative List of the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Registration
Participation in the conference is free of charge. Lunches, dinners and receptions mentioned in the programme are included. Costs for travel to the Netherlands and stay are not included. Deadline for registration is 1 June 2020.
For non-Dutch millers connected to a traditional mill or a millers’ association there is a possibility for partial reimbursement of these costs.
More information about the conference you can find on the official website.
