Next week, on September 13, 14 and 15, the 22nd edition of Tocatì, the international festival of street games, will take place in Verona, Italy.
It is the main action of “Tocatì, a joint program for the protection of traditional games and sports”, a multinational program registered in the Convention’s Register of Good Safeguarding Practices in 2022. Several accredited non-governmental organizations are involved in the Tocati network and the Festival is under the patronage of the Convention!
In the history of the Festival, the International Forum of Ludic Culture (see programme) has been a place of meetings and a crossroads of projects with its round tables, informal meetings and the international Symposium “Tocatì, a shared heritage”. The Forum was – is – a generating element and key moment of the cooperation work that accompanied and built the recognition of Tocatì as a UNESCO good practice.
This year, the Forum is welcomed in the halls of the University of Verona in Santa Marta, concretizing an increasingly close bond with the world of research, education and training.
In collaboration with the broad partnership of the Tocatì network, two round tables will bring reflection on key themes for the development of the Tocatì Good Practice: Friday morning will touch on the theme of cultural policies and the role of civil society in creating culture and heritage, with reflections and updates from the institutions that support Tocatì at different levels, from local to international; Friday afternoon will be dedicated to the key theme of the relationship between documenting, filming and educating with testimonies, films and ongoing experiences from our Italian and international network.
Finally, also in reference to the change of spaces that the Festival is experiencing this year, Saturday morning will see the eighth edition of the International Symposium “Tocatì a shared heritage”, this year dedicated to the key theme of cultural spaces.
The communities of our network, players, institutions and leaders of organizations are invited to participate in these important moments of training and updating. We are Tocatì!
