Douzan Art and Culture is a cultural organization launched in 2019 to enable Syrians to build their contemporary cultural identity through preserving cultural memory, providing spaces for interaction, building capacities, and enhancing solidarity and cooperation to build our cultural future between heritage and modernity.
Douzan Art and Culture experiments with a new methodology, reflected in three main key words:
DOCUMENTING the history of Syrian arts and intangible cultural heritage and archiving this history and making it available through digital platforms to the public. Not only with the aim of archiving, but with the aim of creating a dynamic and vital archive.
INTERACTING with the archive and memory through conducting several kinds of activities and events about arts history and intangible cultural heritage with the aim of promoting social and cultural participation to encourage Syrians to interact not just with their memories, also with each other.
ENABLING youth through providing them with contemporary tools in the art and culture field to express themselves and promote their conditions (social, economic, and psychological), and link them with their history, which promotes their sense of belong and identity. In addition to strengthen their social and cultural participation within their communities.
